The UNC area studies centers offer resources, funding and programs for K-12 teachers and students who wish to research, study, teach and complete service pertaining to global topics. Below are lists of some of the opportunities we offer. They are not comprehensive, and exploring the funding and news sections of each center’s website may be the quickest way to learn about new opportunities.

Global North Carolina Bringing International Competencies to Teachers & Classrooms
November 2, 2019 | 9:00 am – 4:00 pm | Duke University
Expand global competencies and area studies knowledge in this one-day workshop. Sessions will address immigration trends, cross-cultural communication and collaboration, as well as diverse cultures, histories, and perspectives of different global communities in North Carolina, preparing teachers to navigate global issues in the classroom. Workshop is free of cost; CEUs available. Space is limited; we have reached capacity for this program with our current registrants.
